This is the Place Heritage Park

If you are not from Utah you may not know that the 24th of July is a holiday for Utahan's. We celebrate Pioneer Day. It is kind of like a 2nd 4th of July. One of the activities we did before this holiday was go to This is the Place Park. It is a park that reenacts a pioneer life. It was a lot of fun, but packed because there was a lot of free food and activities for the 24th celebration. Wherever things are free you can expect a lot of people.

This is Meira on a bounce house with grandma. Riding on the train for a tour with Aunt Molly and Uncle Reuben.
Great Grandpa Rayback was with us. He was a real trooper. Recently having had knee surgery he refused to use the wheel chair that my mom got for him. Instead, he offered to push us around. :-) That's my grandpa Rayback. I love him.
Mom's friend, David, was also with us. Notice Reuben's dracula teeth that no one knew he had on. :-)

Swinging so High!

Meira experienced her first time on the swing. We tried to have Meira go on the swing by herself because there was one swing with a back on it. She really liked it while I was video recording her. However, as soon as I walked away Meira decided that she would follow and fell right on her tummy. Oops! We better have a front belt too for now. Sorry, Meira. She had a lot of fun swinging with mommy and daddy.

Personality Coming Through

Meira has decided that there are things that she likes and things she does not. This is her modeling the face she gives us when she does not like something that we present to her. She is half smiling here so her lips aren't quite as puckered in disgust. She's got a personality for sure.s

4th of July

Our 4th of July was so much fun. We went to Sandy to see the booths, free performers, eat food, etc... You know how that goes. We had to chuckle at the performers who were 10 teenage girls and 4 teenage boys dancing and singing way too sexy grown-up songs. As parents do, Mark and I have begun making lists of what we will never let Meira do when she grows up...that got on the list. Sorry, Meira. We did however, find the cutest 4th of July crown and wand for just $3. Meira loved them.

Meira is already patriotic and loved waving her flag during the parade in Sandy. She really like the horses, KFC's mac'n cheese, and the wind.
She also really liked my sunglasses. :-)

Mission Family

One of my favorite families from the mission was in town in the month of July. Their son, Thomas Sevy, was going on his mission and Meira and I were able to see him and the rest of the family before he headed off for 2 years.

A First Big Boo Boo!

I think parents hurt more seeing their kids get hurt than the kids themselves. This accident made me so sad. I was babysitting our neighbor's two boys. One of the boys who is about 6 months older than Meira was playing with a ball and rolled it down our driveway into the road. I was holding Meira and ran after the ball. When we got to the ball I stopped it with my foot and then lost my balance. I fell on my hip and knee. Meira bonked her face on my shoulder. As you can see, her tooth went through the inside of her lip. :-( I felt awful about falling with her. So did she. Luckily that is all that happened and Meira soon recovered. She was a trooper. My poor beat up baby. :-(

The newest member of our family, Audrey Marian Taylor, was born June 26, 2008 at 8:43 a.m. to Jonathan and Amy (Mark's brother). She weighed 6 lbs, 9 oz, 19 inches long. She is adorable and we will keep her. Amy did amazing through delivery and we are so happy that Audrey and Amy are both healthy and well.
